Downward spiral
That is the direction of the Philippines is going through right now. They say that education is the best tool for developing countries. We are a developing country no doubt about that but on the other hand…education? Do we really have such a tool? Classes are now starting and problems are now arising. Not enough textbooks, not enough teachers, not enough classrooms, double or triple shifting classes. I mean, damn…that’s a really big problem. As I remember, Rizal said that “ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan”. If you read that now, would you still believe Rizal? Or just laugh? Or maybe feel some hatred or sympathy? How can the youth be the future of our country without a good foundation of education? Will they really learn so much if these problems are not solved? Yeah blame it on the government…blame all that’s happening to us in the government. Well I only have one thing to say about that “asa pa kayo sa gobyerno natin!”. As an individual, what can we do? Well…all of my old textbooks from LSGH have been donated, our old encyclopedia sets were donated in Pangasinan, some parents took time and effort and their own money to rebuild windows, chairs, painted walls in their local schools. So what else can we do? Pray and still believe.
